March 3, 2010: Route 2 Okonomiyaki

Emily's choice for いただきます was this okonomiyaki place on the 2 that is owned by the family of one of my Kinryo students. This particular Wednesday was graduation at Shogai so Stef was loaded with presents from her students which included these wonderful kerchiefs that we decided to don in honor of Girl's Day.

We went with the おすすめ, the house specialty, and got one with bacon and cheese, one with mochi and cheese, and the "mix" one with squid, shrimp, pork, konyaku, and a bunch of other stuff thrown in there.

おいしいいいいいいい!!! Seriously, some of the best okonomiyaki I've tasted, and easily the best in Himeji so far. They have this spicy okonomiyaki sauce that is actually spicy! Spice in Japan! What a novel concept! The food was great, the drinks were cheap, and the people were super nice! We've been back many times since and it's always amazing!

February 24, 2010: HAGI

The menu at HAGI. Everything comes raw and skewered, ready to be dipped in tempura batter and fried to deliciousness.

We ordered a set meal of 15 different items on sticks. Some were blah (okra) and some were amazing (baby brie).

Remnants of a tasty dinner.

The special dessert required chef assistance. They were ice cream balls with a chocolate fudge center that were covered with funnel cake batter and deep fried. Pretty much the most amazing ending ever imagined.
